Since 2017, World Barber Day has grown into a global celebration of barbering and its power to make a difference. Founded by Hugh and Conor Mc Allister, the event unites thousands of barbers across nearly 50 countries every September — with one common goal: to use barbering as a force for good.

In 2025, the focus is on raising vital funds for UNICEF, supporting underprivileged children worldwide. Official JustGiving pages allow clients, barbers, and supporters to donate directly, with 100% of funds going to UNICEF’s programmes.

The Roots of World Barber Day

What started as a family initiative from the Mc Allisters has become an international movement. By combining the social and cultural tradition of the barbershop with charitable action, the day has created a way for the industry to give back on a global scale.

From small independent shops to established chains, barbers everywhere come together under one banner — showing that community really does extend beyond the chair.

Why It Matters in 2025

This year’s cause is particularly close to the heart: helping children who face poverty, hardship, and lack of opportunity. With barbers across nearly 50 countries taking part, the ripple effect is extraordinary.

World Barber Day also enjoys the backing of celebrity brand ambassadors such as Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan, actor James Nesbitt, and musician Ronan Keating. Their involvement highlights just how meaningful the movement has become, inspiring even more people to get behind the cause.
